Format: Commander

Commander: Kona, Rescue Beastie

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Kona, Rescue Beastie leads a mono-green cheat-into-play battlecruiser deck. The game plan is to ramp early, cast Kona on turns 3-4, tap it via combat or mana abilities, then use its Survival trigger at the beginning of the second main phase to put a massive permanent from hand directly onto the battlefield. The deck then buries opponents under high-power threats like Worldspine Wurm, Ghalta, Primal Hunger, It That Betrays, and Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger. Backup cheat engines in Elvish Piper, Eladamri, Korvecdal, Sledge-Class Seedship, and Smuggler's Surprise keep the plan working even if Kona is answered. Finishing comes through combat, usually accelerated by Akroma's Memorial, Overwhelming Stampede, Unnatural Growth, or Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus. There are no infinite combos; the primary and backup win conditions are all overwhelming combat damage.
