Format: Commander

Commander: Ozai, the Phoenix King

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos "firebending" aggro-combo deck built around generating explosive combat mana and banking it. Ozai, the Phoenix King is both enabler and finisher: his replacement effect keeps unspent mana from vanishing, converting every firebending attack trigger into red mana that persists across phases and turns, and with six or more red floating he becomes an indestructible flying 7/7. The plan is to deploy cheap firebending bodies (Fire Sages, Azula, on the Hunt, Zuko, Exiled Prince), accelerate into Ozai with rocks and rituals, attack the same turn thanks to haste, then chain extra combat steps via Seize the Day, Great Train Heist, Full Throttle, and Hellkite Charger so each combat re-fires the mana engines. The accumulated pool finishes the table with Crackle with Power, Comet Storm, Jaya's Immolating Inferno, or Fated Firepower-amplified trample. A Mirrorwing Dragon magecraft sub-engine with Ashling, Flame Dancer, Electro, Assaulting Battery, and Leyline Tyrant offers a secondary all-in line. The two transforming sagas in the 99, The Legend of Roku // Avatar Roku and The Rise of Sozin // Fire Lord Sozin, effectively act as extra legendary "commanders."
