Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov midrange control list commanded by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. The primary strategy focuses on deploying efficient low-mana acceleration to cast the commander and auxiliary card engines ahead of curve. Once assembled, Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel converts any instance of lifegain into burst card draw by paying life, generating overwhelming card advantage. The deck stabilizes life totals using lifelink creatures such as Archon of Cruelty, Lyra Dawnbringer, and Beza, the Bounding Spring. It translates this resource buffer into lethal damage via Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, explosive life swaps with Evra, Halcyon Witness and Mister Negative, and wide evasive strikes using Angel tokens from Ob Nixilis, the Ascended. While possessing resilient raw card velocity and substantial life buffers, the deck is vulnerable to targeted creature removal and sweepers due to a lack of dedicated countermagic and protective spells.
