Deck overview

This Mono-Black deck harnesses Avacyn, Angel of Horror to turn symmetrical sacrifice effects into one-sided board wipes. The strategy accelerates in the opening turns using efficient mana rocks, rituals, and cost reducers like Jet Medallion and Heartless Summoning. By Turn 4, the deck establishes an engine of sacrifice outlets, card draw, and edict creatures. Casting Avacyn on Turn 5 transforms cards like Plaguecrafter and Accursed Marauder into recurring board clears, because Avacyn returns nontoken creatures at the beginning of each end step. Opponents quickly lose their creatures, hands, and lands to Braids, Cabal Minion, Grave Pact, and Tergrid, God of Fright. The deck finishes the game around Turn 7 through compounded life drain from Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Syr Konrad, the Grim, and Bastion of Remembrance, backed by combat damage from large flying threats.
