Deck overview

This deck is a combo-control engine commander strategy centered around Mairsil, the Pretender. The game plan focuses on filling the graveyard with powerful activated abilities using Entomb, Buried Alive, and faithless looting effects. Once Mairsil enters the battlefield, it exiles key creatures and artifacts with cage counters, gaining their activated abilities. The primary win condition utilizes Quicksilver Elemental to bypass Mairsil's once-per-turn activation restriction. When paired with an untapper like Morphling and a mana producer like Gilded Lotus, Mairsil generates infinite mana and draws the entire deck through Asmodeus the Archfiend. The game is closed out in the same turn via infinite landfall triggers from Trench Behemoth and Patron of the Moon with Retreat to Hagra. The deck features built-in self-protection through Aetherling and Morphling, as well as a repeatable asymmetric board wipe via Nevinyrral's Disk.
