Deck overview

This Golgari deck is an aggressive Voltron strategy centered around Skullbriar, the Walking Grave. The deck leverages Skullbriar's unique ability to retain counters across all zones except hand and library. Skullbriar is cast on Turn 2 (or Turn 1 with acceleration) and attacks immediately to accumulate counters. The deck rapidly scales Skullbriar into a lethal threat using counter multipliers like Hardened Scales and Branching Evolution, exponential buffs like Hydra's Growth, and high-impact pumps like Increasing Savagery. Evasion equipment such as Brotherhood Regalia and Vorrac Battlehorns ensures combat connections, while cheap protection spells like Tyvar's Stand and Kaya's Ghostform preserve the commander's board presence. Skullbriar's counter retention provides resilience against removal, allowing the deck to recast an already massive threat with haste. The plan finishes opponents sequentially through lethal commander damage and poison counters, closing games around Turn 6.
