Deck overview

This Sultai deck is an asymmetric stax and tap-untap control list commanded by Archelos, Lagoon Mystic. The strategy revolves around manipulating the tap state of permanents across the table. By keeping Archelos tapped, every land, creature, and artifact your opponents play enters tapped, severely hindering their tempo. The deck then layers oppressive lock pieces like Stasis, Winter Orb, Static Orb, and Opposition to freeze opposing boards. While opponents struggle under strict mana constraints, the deck breaks parity using dedicated untap engines such as Seedborn Muse, Wilderness Reclamation, Kiora's Follower, and Kelpie Guide. This allows you to generate full mana on every turn cycle, trigger powerful tap abilities repeatedly, and draw cards with Verity Circle. To secure victory, the deck leverages life drain from Throne of the God-Pharaoh, combat damage from evasive threats, or an infinite Magecraft drain combo using Witherbloom Apprentice and Chain of Smog.
