Deck overview

This Sultai deck leverages the partner pairing of Reyhan, Last of the Abzan and Sakashima of a Thousand Faces to build an exponentially scaling +1/+1 counter and Hydra engine. Sakashima circumvents the legend rule, cloning Reyhan to double all death-triggered counter distributions. The deck curves efficient early ramp into huge trample threats like Kalonian Hydra, Primordial Hydra, and Voracious Hydra, augmented by force multipliers such as Branching Evolution and Unbound Flourishing. While the deck generates massive board presence and features strong mass reanimation through Living Death and Patriarch's Bidding, it relies strictly on combat steps to close games. A low density of reactive interaction and lack of spell tutors make it vulnerable to board wipes and combo decks.
