Deck overview

This deck is a high-tempo Simic tribal aggro strategy commanded by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. The game plan revolves around deploying cheap Merfolk early, casting Hakbal on Turn 3, and generating massive card velocity and board size through repeated explore triggers. The deck smoothly converts explore triggers into extra land drops, card filtering, and +1/+1 counters, compounding board pressure each combat step. It translates this board presence into a decisive win using unblockable enablers such as Herald of Secret Streams, or by turning opposing lands into Islands with Harbinger of the Seas to activate team-wide Islandwalk from Lord of Atlantis and Master of the Pearl Trident. The strategy is backed by an elite interaction suite featuring Force of Will, Fierce Guardianship, and Heroic Intervention to protect the board from sweepers and disrupt opposing combos while closing out the table over 2 to 3 combat phases.
