Deck overview

This deck executes an aggressive Rakdos aristocrats-voltron game plan commanded by The Balrog, Durin's Bane. The central engine turns permanent sacrifices—such as Treasure tokens, fetchlands, and expendable creature tokens—into massive mana velocity by discounting Balrog's casting cost down to {B}{R}. Upon entering the battlefield, Balrog immediately attacks with haste and near-unblockable evasion, threatening to eliminate opponents rapidly through lethal commander damage multipliers like Hatred, Fiery Emancipation, and Cranial Plating. Supporting engines like Mayhem Devil, Sarkhan's Unsealing, and Purphoros, God of the Forge convert routine sacrifices and creature casts into board-clearing attrition and direct damage. Resilient against spot removal thanks to built-in death retribution and negligible commander tax friction under sacrifice engines, the deck applies relentless combat pressure while disrupting opposing boards with efficient removal.
