Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Smaug the Impenetrable commands a turbo Rakdos combo-burn deck centered around self-inflicted damage triggers. Because Smaug possesses indestructible, haste, and creates Treasure tokens whenever it takes noncombat damage, repeated damage sweepers become massive mana engines. The deck accelerates quickly using explosive fast mana, lands Smaug ahead of curve, and immediately targets its commander with repeatable burn effects like Pestilence or Pyrohemia. Each activation produces Treasures that pay for subsequent activations. Pairing this mana engine with aristocrat-style burn outlets such as Mayhem Devil, Reckless Fireweaver, Mirkwood Bats, or an infinite damage loop with Blazing Sunsteel eliminates the table in a single turn.
