Deck overview

This Izzet combat deck leverages Karlach, Fury of Avernus and Sword Coast Sailor to execute high-impact multi-combat strategies. Fast artifact mana accelerates Karlach into play on Turn 4, where the Background ensures unblockable attacks against the highest-life opponent while Karlach grants an additional combat phase and first strike. The deck compounds this damage through damage doublers like Twinflame Tyrant, damage distribution through Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar, and infinite combat loops using Aggravated Assault and Sword of Feast and Famine or Combat Celebrant and Helm of the Host. A format-ceiling interaction and protection package—featuring free countermagic like Fierce Guardianship, Deflecting Swat, and Force of Will—safeguards key threats from removal, enabling a fast and protected finish by Turn 5.
