Doctor Octopus, Master Planner by Maddix2346

Format: Commander

Commander: Doctor Octopus, Master Planner

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir Villain tribal build helmed by Doctor Octopus, Master Planner, a 7-mana commander who rewards filling your hand by drawing cards at each end step. The core strategy revolves around accumulating card advantage through connive triggers, token generation, and graveyard recursion, then grinding out wins via Psychosis Crawler drain and a growing board of Villain creatures. The commander's maximum hand size of eight turns the end-step trigger into a consistent refill, while cards like Baron Strucker, HYDRA Overlord and Madame Masque amplify the connive loop. The deck lacks a fast combo finish, instead aiming to out-value opponents over time. The threat base is modest but includes evasive fliers, deathtouch bodies, and token producers. The game plan is durable but slow, relying on incremental advantage rather than explosive turns.
