Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Naya +1/+1 counters deck helmed by Aragorn, Hornburg Hero. The strategy focuses on accelerating mana on turns one and two, deploying efficient creature threats on turn three, and casting Aragorn on turn four. Aragorn provides attacking creatures with first strike and renown 1, allowing them to gain counters and immediately become renowned upon dealing combat damage. Once creatures are renowned, subsequent attacks double their +1/+1 counters, creating explosive, exponential power growth across the board. Accelerators like Branching Evolution, Hardened Scales, and Conclave Mentor multiply these counters even faster, while evasion pieces like Abzan Falconer and Garruk's Uprising guarantee combat damage connects. The deck protects its substantial board presence with an extensive suite of defensive instants, including Flawless Maneuver and Heroic Intervention. Because it relies on combat damage to eliminate opponents across multiple turns, the deck is vulnerable to non-destroy board wipes and prolonged board stalls, but its sheer stat generation can quickly overwhelm unprepared tables.
