Livin' on blood, buyin' on time. Without some bleeding nothing ain't worth a dime by TurkeyChief

Format: Commander

Commander: Rowan, Scion of War

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Rowan, Scion of War is a life-loss combo deck that converts pain from lands, spells, and creatures into massive black/red discounts. The primary plan is to lose 10+ life in a turn, activate Rowan, then cast a huge X spell or discounted threat to finish the table. Secondary paths use life-paying creatures like Moltensteel Dragon and Arco-Flagellant to enable Rowan repeatedly, plus Eldrazi finishers and recursion. The hidden commander is Rakdos, Lord of Riots, which provides a similar cost-reduction engine and a flying trample body. The deck is built to use Rowan's activated ability as the central mana engine, with both faces of the commander supporting the same life-loss strategy.
