Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black attrition and resource-denial powerhouse helmed by Tergrid, God of Fright. The game plan revolves around accelerating mana in the early turns, establishing Tergrid, God of Fright on Turn 4 or 5, and immediately resolving symmetrical discard or sacrifice spells. When opponents discard permanent cards or sacrifice nontoken permanents to cards like Dark Deal, Pox, Plaguecrafter, or Bottomless Pit, Tergrid steals those permanents directly onto your battlefield. This simultaneously guts opponents of their resources while assembling a massive, diverse board state under your control. Opponents are kept under severe lock through persistent discard pieces such as Oppression and Sire of Insanity. The deck converts this overwhelming resource advantage into a decisive win on Turn 7 through combat damage with stolen creatures or high-devotion life loss from Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Torment of Hailfire.
