Chain of Smaug by Ulty

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Smaug the Impenetrable leads an aggressive black-red spell-slinger deck that turns instants and sorceries into Treasures, card draw, and table-wide burn. The primary plan is to assemble the Chain of Smog + Professor Onyx loop, using tutors and rummage to find it, while redundant pingers (Guttersnipe, Longshot, Kessig Flamebreather, Tor Wauki, Fiery Inscription) soften the table. The commander is an indestructible haste threat whose noncombat-damage trigger converts burn into Treasure ramp; Smaug the Magnificent acts as a strong secondary payoff. Fallback wins include a Harnfel/Sensei's Divining Top loop and X-spells fueled by Treasures. The deck has no true hidden commander; the other Smaugs are value creatures, not the engine.
