Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos treasure-combo midrange strategy centered on Smaug the Impenetrable. Smaug features flying, indestructible, haste, and a unique ability: whenever he is dealt noncombat damage, he creates that many Treasure tokens. The deck uses early mana rocks and rituals to deploy Smaug on Turn 5, then immediately targets him with mass-damage sweepers or targeted self-burn spells like Blasphemous Act, Cut Propulsion, and Star of Extinction. This clears opposing creature boards while creating 13 to 20+ Treasures in a single burst. These Treasures immediately trigger damage engines such as Mirkwood Bats, Reckless Fireweaver, and Ingenious Artillerist to drain the entire table. Supporting cards like Shadow the Hedgehog and Hexing Squelcher grant Split Second and uncounterability to shield the combo turn from opposing interaction. If Smaug is removed, backup treasure generators like Goldspan Dragon and alternate win conditions like Hellkite Tyrant ensure continued pressure.
