Deck overview

This deck is a high-powered 5-color control strategy piloted by Jace, Multiverse Architect. The primary plan leverages low-cost enchantments and artifacts like Skrelv's Hive, Dreadhorde Invasion, and Staff of the Storyteller to create disposable creature tokens in the early turns. On Turn 4, the deck deploys its commander and immediately activates its -3 loyalty ability to transform a token into an enormous game-warping creature or planeswalker. Premier targets include Archon of Cruelty, Hullbreaker Horror, Avacyn, Angel of Hope, and Archfiend of Despair. Topdeck manipulation tools such as Brainstorm, Brainsurge, and Sensei's Divining Top ensure optimal hits. The commander's static ability taxes opposing attacks, while a robust suite of free and efficient counterspells, spot removal, and sweepers controls the table until flying beaters and recurring attrition close out the game on Turn 7.
