Commander: Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos group-slug deck helmed by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls, built to punish opponents for every game action they take-drawing cards, playing lands, casting spells, and losing life. The commander turns each opponent's first life loss each turn into a +1/+1 counter and a card draw, providing a steady engine of advantage and a growing threat. The deck's primary win condition is attrition through repeated damage from punisher permanents, amplified by damage doublers like Solphim, Mayhem Dominus and Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might, and finished with a massive Torment of Hailfire or commander damage. It forgoes fast combos in favor of grinding the table down with symmetrical pain that the pilot's own draw engine and life-gain outlets (Bloodthirsty Conqueror, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse) turn asymmetric.
