Deck overview

This deck is a thematic Grixis control and discard attrition strategy helmed by Nicol Bolas, the Ravager. Its primary game plan is to accelerate mana in the early turns using 2-CMC artifacts, deploy Nicol Bolas, the Ravager and mid-game discard engines, and systematically dismantle opposing hands. In the mid-to-late game, the deck transforms its commander into Nicol Bolas, the Arisen or resolves devastating high-cost planeswalkers like Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God and Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh. Life totals are whittled down through discard-triggered burn from Liliana's Caress and Megrim, complemented by large evasive threats and reanimated beaters from The Scarab God. While the deck possesses oppressive resource denial via Tergrid, God of Fright, Narset, Parter of Veils, and God-Pharaoh's Statue, its lack of compact infinite combos results in a deliberate, multi-turn combat finish that relies on protecting its planeswalker engines.
