Deck overview

This deck uses The Astonishing Ant-Man to turn card draws into +1/+1 counters, then converts those counters into Insect tokens. The wider shell supports that plan with Hardened Scales, Ezuri, Claw of Progress, Rishkar, Peema Renegade, Master Biomancer, and counter-doubling effects. Draw cards such as Quick Study, Eureka Moment, Lessons from Life, and Tatyova, Benthic Druid provide the fuel, while Beastmaster Ascension, Overrun, and Biomass Mutation turn a wide board into combat damage. The deck usually needs about turn 4 to begin operating and about turn 7 to create a critical attack. Its ordinary three-opponent finish is around turn 9. Back to Basics is strong against nonbasic-heavy tables, but it is not a complete lock. The main limitations are natural-draw dependence, modest protection, limited stack interaction, and vulnerability to sweepers before the combat payoff becomes active.
