Deck overview

This deck is a classic Izzet spellslinger deck built around Niv-Mizzet, Parun. Its game plan focuses on spending the early turns developing mana fixing, stocking the graveyard with cheap velocity cantrips, and using targeted burn to control opposing utility creatures. On turn 6, the deck resolves its commander, immediately weaponizing every instant and sorcery cast by any player into card advantage and targeted damage. Because the list omits dedicated two-card infinite combo enablers like Curiosity, it secures victory through fair, compounding attrition: chaining draw spells, picking off opposing blockers, and swinging with Niv-Mizzet, large Crackling Drake threats, and Seize the Storm tokens over multiple turn rotations. The deck features strong card flow and solid secondary beatdown routes, but its reliance on maintaining an unprotected 6-CMC commander across multiple turns leaves it vulnerable to well-timed removal.
