Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet spellslinger and burn strategy commanded by Gandalf the Grey. It accelerates through its library using low-cost cantrips such as Ponder, Preordain, and Brainstorm to fuel a dense array of spell-trigger payoffs. The primary game plan revolves around assembling cost reducers like Baral, Chief of Compliance and mana engines such as Storm-Kiln Artist, then deploying damage-multiplying permanents including Fiery Inscription, Guttersnipe, and Ral, Storm Conduit. Gandalf the Grey provides versatile modal triggers that untap lands, copy spells, and burn all opponents simultaneously. Blink spells like Essence Flux and Ghostly Flicker reset Gandalf's chosen modes while protecting key creatures from removal. The deck builds toward explosive turns powered by Mana Geyser and Seething Song, closing games on turn 7 via overwhelming table-wide burn or an infinite card-draw loop with Dualcaster Mage and Blur.
