Deck overview

Zurgo, Thunder's Decree leads an aggressive Mardu token deck that turns temporary Mobilize tokens into permanent battlefield fixtures. The deck's primary engine exploits Zurgo's end-step prevention clause: when Zurgo attacks, it creates two attacking 1/1 Warrior tokens, then shields them from their end-step sacrifice trigger so they remain indefinitely. This allows the deck to build an expansive army without paying additional mana for token generation. On curve, Zurgo lands on Turn 3, initiates token production on Turn 4, and layers combat multipliers such as Adriana, Captain of the Guard, Isshin, Two Heavens as One, and Within Range by Turns 5 and 6. The deck closes games around Turn 8 through wide combat swings and supplemental burn. However, with only two ramp spells in the ninety-nine, the deck relies almost entirely on hitting land drops. It also suffers from prolonged board exposure, leaving its accumulated army vulnerable to sweepers that bypass indestructible.
