Deck overview

Blech, Loafing Pest leads a Golgari midrange deck combining typal aggro, +1/+1 counters, and lifegain synergies. The primary strategy focuses on deploying creatures from five specific types—Pests, Bats, Insects, Snakes, and Spiders—and growing them rapidly with +1/+1 counters every time you gain life. Incidental lifegain sources like Bogwater Lumaret, Sanguine Syphoner, and Pest death triggers consistently feed Blech's ability, transforming small tokens into lethal attackers. The deck expands its army through token engines such as Ant Queen, Scute Swarm, and Pest Infestation, while counter enhancers like Loading Zone accelerate the clock. In addition to wide combat wins, the deck features an infinite life-drain combo using Bloodthirsty Conqueror alongside Dina, Soul Steeper or Marauding Blight-Priest. While effective at assembling combat pressure, the deck operates with a lean 30-land base and modest early ramp, making it susceptible to mana hiccups and creature sweepers if key protection spells are unavailable.
