Death and Decay by Olly290

Format: Commander

Commander: Mortarion, Daemon Primarch

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a mono-black life-payment midrange deck helmed by Mortarion, Daemon Primarch. The plan converts deliberate life loss into board presence: pay life through engines like Necropotence, Bolas's Citadel, K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth, and draw spells, then cash that loss into menace Warrior tokens at end step. Those tokens feed aristocrats drains (Ayara, First of Locthwain, Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Mirkwood Bats) and Warrior payoffs. Primary wins are life-drain loops via Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose or Sanguine Bond paired with Bloodthirsty Conqueror, backed by Exsanguinate, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and Citadel activations. The deck plays as classic black goodstuff-ramp into Coffers mana, hemorrhage life for cards and tokens, then close through life totals rather than fair combat.
