Deck overview

This Boros deck combines Cat tribal aggro with an Ajani planeswalker superfriends shell, led by Ajani, Nacatl Pariah. The primary game plan focuses on casting efficient early Cats, transforming Ajani into Ajani, Nacatl Avenger, and establishing a wide board of Cat tokens. On Turn 4, the deck can activate Ajani's −4 ability to asymmetrically decimate opposing nonland boards while keeping its own swarm intact. From this dominant position, the deck transitions into critical onset around Turn 6 by stacking powerful damage multipliers like Fiery Emancipation, City on Fire, Shared Animosity, or Jazal Goldmane to overwhelm opponents with lethal combat swings and burn. While the deck boasts strong resilience through low commander cost and protection spells like Boros Charm and Dawn's Truce, its main limitations are a lack of instant-speed stack interaction and heavy reliance on combat steps to close games.
