Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive +1/+1 counters burn strategy helmed by Shalai and Hallar. The deck's primary game plan revolves around rapidly establishing a board of synergistic counter-generating creatures such as Luminarch Aspirant, Managorger Hydra, and Forgotten Ancient, then using Shalai and Hallar to convert every counter placed into direct face damage against opponents. High-impact permanents like Cathars' Crusade, Kalonian Hydra, Doubling Season, and Solphim, Mayhem Dominus exponentially scale both power on the board and noncombat burn output. In addition to overwhelming combat and trigger damage, the deck houses a compact infinite damage combo between Shalai and Hallar and The Red Terror. While the deck excels at creating explosive damage bursts, it operates with minimal card draw and limited stack interaction, leaving it vulnerable to well-timed board wipes and spot removal. Competent sequencing involves balancing creature deployment with holding open mana for protection or removal.
