Deck overview

The deck uses Marrow-Gnawer to turn a small Rat board into a rapidly growing token army. Its strongest line equips Thornbite Staff to Marrow-Gnawer, then sacrifices a Rat to untap the commander and create more Rats. With at least three starting Rats, each iteration increases the army. Ayara, First of Locthwain converts every new Rat into life loss for each opponent, producing a same-turn table kill once the full state is assembled. Karumonix, the Rat King, Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm, and the large number of Rat Colony cards support the tribal plan when the combo is unavailable. Tutors and reanimation improve access, but the deck remains slow because the commander, Staff, equip cost, payoff, and fodder must arrive together. Its interaction is functional but narrow, and it has little proactive denial or reliable protection against artifact removal, exile, sweepers, and graveyard disruption.
