Format: Commander

Commander: Averna, the Chaos Bloom

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Built around Averna as a mana engine, this is a cascade-value deck that tries to chain one cascade into another, using big creatures and free spells to overwhelm all three opponents. The primary plan is ramp to seven-plus mana, cast Averna, then fire off Sweet-Gum Recluse, Imoti, or Maelstrom Wanderer so every cascade trigger also puts a land into play. The strongest payoff is Maelstrom Wanderer/Etali, effectively the hidden commander; a single Etali trigger can free-cast cards from every player's deck. Secondary paths are hardcasting Blightsteel Colossus/Omniscience and using Garruk's Uprising plus Wanderer haste for a one-turn trample attack.
