Format: Commander

Commander: Grist, the Hunger Tide

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Grist, the Hunger Tide leads an Insect-tribal graveyard deck that wins by filling its own graveyard, amassing Insect tokens, and converting recursion into combat and life loss. The commander supplies tokens, selection, removal, and a mass-drain ultimate; the 99 includes Grist, Voracious Larva // Grist, the Plague Swarm as a hidden commander whose back face is the payoff. Self-mill (Ripples of Undeath, Crawling Infestation, Old Rutstein), mass reanimation (Living Death, Patriarch's Bidding, Bloodline Bidding), and drain payoffs (Syr Konrad, Aatchik, Fumulus) support it. Secondary paths use landfall token swarm from Scute Swarm/Springheart and attrition from Grave Pact/Smokestack. The deck is resilient to single removal but vulnerable to graveyard hate and lacks counterspells.
