Ruric Pain by AlwaysRestless

Format: Commander

Commander: Ruric Thar, the Unbowed

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Ruric Thar, the Unbowed is a Gruul creature-storm/stax hybrid. The deck floods the board with one- and two-mana mana dorks, casts Ruric early as a 6/6 reach/vigilance roadblock, then turns damage sideways with doublers/triplers and an overrun like Craterhoof Behemoth. Secondary plan is taxing noncreature spells with Ruric, Magebane Lizard, and Scytheclaw Raptor, while card draw from Ohran Frostfang and Dragonborn Champion smooths the midgame. There is no hidden commander; both roles of Ruric, punisher and beater, are integral, but the deck is not a dedicated engine around a single noncommander card.
