Hydra WUBRG by DillyDally

Format: Commander

Commander: Progenitus

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This five-colour Hydra tribal deck is built around Progenitus as a resilient finisher and the tribe's +1/+1 counter synergy. The primary plan is to ramp early, deploy counter doublers like Doubling Season, Branching Evolution and Hardened Scales, then cast ever-larger Hydras that grow into unstoppable threats. Combat damage is the main path to victory, with Kalonian Hydra doubling all counters on each attack and Hydra Omnivore spreading its damage to every opponent. The deck also includes the alternate win condition Simic Ascendancy, which can quickly reach twenty growth counters thanks to the heavy counter generation. A handful of recursion spells (Eerie Ultimatum) and protection pieces (Heroic Intervention, Inspiring Call) help the board survive disruption. The commander itself is a 10/10 with protection from everything, acting as a hard-to-answer beater that can close games in three hits of commander damage.
