Deck overview

This deck is a Gruul stompy build designed to leverage Xenagos, God of Revels to grant haste and double the power of high-impact creatures each turn. Supported by a 9-piece suite of 1-to-2 CMC ramp, Xenagos regularly lands on Turn 4. On Turn 5, deploying an evasive Dragon or trampling Dinosaur immediately threatens an opponent with 10 to 24 combat damage. Because Xenagos remains an indestructible enchantment under seven devotion, the primary engine dodges traditional creature sweepers. However, the deck operates through single-target combat damage, requiring three response cycles to close games against three opponents. Key structural bottlenecks include an absence of creature tutors, light stack interaction, and reliance on combat connections for card draw. Affordable upgrades under $10—such as Karlach, Fury of Avernus for extra combats, Port Razer, and Deflecting Swat alternatives like Bolt Bend—can significantly accelerate closing speeds and protect high-cost threats.
