Deck overview

This Niv-Mizzet, Parun deck is an Izzet spellslinger and control deck that wins through rapid card draw, board control, and combo finishes. The primary strategy focuses on ramping into colored mana sources, resolving an uncounterable Niv-Mizzet on Turn 5, and leveraging his ability to draw cards and ping targets whenever any player casts an instant or sorcery. The deck can achieve an immediate game-ending loop by attaching Curiosity to Niv-Mizzet, triggering an infinite damage and draw sequence that drains opponents while drawing the library. Alternatively, the deck wins through wide token generation using The Locust God, Young Pyromancer, and Third Path Iconoclast, or table-wide life drain via Psychosis Crawler. A robust suite of counterspells and targeted bounce or sweepers protects your board while disrupting opposing win conditions. While the deck lacks dedicated tutors to assemble its two-card combo on demand, its high cantrip density and commander card velocity reliably churn through the 99.
