By introducing the monarch early, Marchesa encourages rivals to attack each other while fortifying your position behind rattlesnake deterrents and taxing effects. Goad spells and forced combat continuously whittle down life totals while your defensive pieces keep you untouched. Once the table is exhausted, the deck closes the game by redirecting massive damage with Deflecting Palm and Inkshield, overwhelming survivors with an evasive Angel swarm from Luminarch Ascension or Court of Grace, or finishing everyone at once through Torment of Hailfire and Insurrection.
