Format: Commander

Commander: Zhao, the Moon Slayer

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Zhao, the Moon Slayer is a cheap early stax piece: his menace and nonbasic-land tax slow the first turns, while his {7} ability eventually turns every nonbasic land into a Mountain. The deck is built around red mana denial and a compact Godo, Bandit Warlord plus Helm of the Host combo as the fastest finish. Human token generation and enchantment burn are the backup plan; Godo effectively acts as a hidden commander for the kill. Zhao is not the engine-he is an accelerant for an already blood-moon-heavy game plan. If an opponent survives the land lock or the combo, repeated Human tokens and direct damage from Stensia Uprising, Vigilante Justice, and Chandra close out the game.
