Deck overview

Dina, Soul Steeper leads a Golgari lifegain aristocrats combo deck designed to convert incremental life gain into lethal life loss across all opponents. The primary strategy focuses on setting up compact, game-ending two-card infinite combos: pairing Dina or redundant drain creatures with Exquisite Blood, or deploying Witherbloom Apprentice alongside Chain of Smog to drain the entire table in a single turn. Acceleration from Dark Ritual, Sol Ring, and Birds of Paradise pairs with black tutors like Demonic Tutor and Grim Tutor to assemble these win conditions consistently by Turn 4. To ensure safe combo execution, the list runs robust anti-interaction tools such as Veil of Summer, City of Solitude, Heroic Intervention, and Defense Grid. If early attempts are disrupted, the deck sustains itself through incidental lifegain fogs, steady card draw from Phyrexian Arena and Deathreap Ritual, and diverse recursion spells to rebuild rapidly.
