Deck overview

This mono-black aristocrats deck is helmed by Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker, a recursion engine that returns power-1-or-less creatures from the graveyard to the battlefield at each end step. The primary plan is to deploy a dense suite of small creatures with ETB/death triggers - Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Gray Merchant of Asphodel - and sacrifice them repeatedly via outlets like Viscera Seer and Ashnod's Altar. Shirei ensures those creatures return turn after turn, generating incremental drain, card advantage, and mana while grinding opponents down. The deck also runs a handful of reanimation spells and Bolas's Citadel as an alternative finish, but it wins almost entirely through cumulative life-loss from death triggers.
