Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet Combo-Control strategy built around Niv-Mizzet, Parun. The primary game plan controls early board development using efficient countermagic, spot removal, and card filtering while hitting land drops and deploying mana rocks. On Turn 6, the deck casts its uncounterable commander and attaches a draw-on-damage effect such as Curiosity, Ophidian Eye, or Tandem Lookout. Any single card draw then triggers a loop between Niv-Mizzet's ping ability and the enchantment's draw trigger, drawing through the entire deck to deal lethal damage across the table or win via Laboratory Maniac / Jace, Wielder of Mysteries. The deck features strong protection in Deflecting Swat, Bolt Bend, and diverse counterspells to ensure the combo resolves cleanly. While vulnerable to early aggressive pressure and strict {U}{U}{U}{R}{R}{R} color requirements, the deck achieves high consistency and immediate same-turn lethality once assembled.
