Deck overview

This deck is a Simic Merfolk kindred strategy commanded by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. It leverages low-cost Merfolk creatures to establish an early board presence, then uses Hakbal's combat explore trigger to generate massive card flow, thin lands, and stack +1/+1 counters across the team. Supported by efficient 1–2 CMC ramp and kindred cost reducers, the deck accelerates into unblockable enablers like Herald of Secret Streams and Deepchannel Mentor or asymmetric board resets like Raise the Palisade and Cyclonic Rift. Protection spells such as Heroic Intervention, Ripples of Potential, and Vodalian Hexcatcher defend the board against sweepers while the deck closes out the game through lethal unblockable combat, Triumph of the Hordes, or an infinite extra-turn loop with Deeproot Pilgrimage and Wanderwine Prophets.
