Deck overview

This Golgari deck is commanded by Aphelia, Viper Whisperer, focusing on creating deathtouch Snake tokens and converting combat damage into lethal life loss. The primary game plan accelerates mana rapidly during the early turns, establishing Aphelia and building an evasive deathtouch assault. By Turn 5, the deck deploys game-ending life-loss amplifiers such as Bloodletter of Aclazotz, Archfiend of Despair, or Wound Reflection. When Aphelia's activated ability halves an opponent's life total, these amplifiers double that loss or repeat it at the end step, resulting in immediate player elimination. The deck also integrates powerful infinite drain combos between Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond effects, giving it reliable alternate avenues to victory. Strong card draw from Skullclamp and Ohran Frostfang keeps hands full, while targeted removal and stax-like attrition from Rottenmouth Viper keep opposing boards under control.
