Xolatoyac, the Smiling Flood by Jpm

Format: Commander

Commander: Xolatoyac, the Smiling Flood

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This is a Simic control-value list helmed by Xolatoyac, the Smiling Flood. The commander is a six-mana 6/6 that floods a land into an Island on ETB or attack, then untaps every permanent you control with a counter at the end step. That untap turn is the deck's unique engine: charge-counter rocks, evolve dorks, Devoted Druid, Rishkar, Peema Renegade, and The Millennium Calendar all get a second activation window. The 99 is otherwise a self-contained control pile - a very dense counterspell suite, bounce wipes, and Island-matters haymakers. Primary wins are combat with Koma, Cosmos Serpent, Hullbreaker Horror, Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle, and Stormtide Leviathan, backed by three non-combat clocks in Simic Ascendancy, Twenty-Toed Toad, and The Millennium Calendar. Eluge, the Shoreless Sea, Omo, Queen of Vesuva, and Quicksilver Fountain copy the flood plan if Xolatoyac is absent, so the commander is a powerful accelerator rather than a single point of failure.
