Deck overview

This Rakdos deck turns self-inflicted and symmetric noncombat damage into an explosive resource engine led by Smaug the Impenetrable. Because Smaug has indestructible and haste, massive damage sweepers such as Blasphemous Act, Star of Extinction, and Chain Reaction clear opposing boards without harming your commander, instantly creating dozens of Treasure tokens. The deck converts this overwhelming mana surplus into lethal finishes through aristocrat drain pieces like Mirkwood Bats and Nadier's Nightblade, game-ending burn spells like Crackle with Power, or an infinite sacrifice loop with Mayhem Devil. Mid-game ramp pieces and impulse draw engines like Prosper, Tome-Bound and Dragonhawk, Fate's Tempest bridge the path to casting Smaug on Turn 6. While vulnerable to exile removal and counterspells, Smaug's built-in resilience and high density of redundant damage enablers allow the deck to pivot rapidly and close multiplayer games in a single decisive turn.
