Deck overview

This deck is an Azorius blink and midrange combat deck commanded by Niko, Light of Hope. Niko provides a dual-purpose engine: generating Shard tokens upon entering and turning those Shards into temporary copies of your best nonlegendary creatures each turn. The early game focuses on setting up mana rocks and deploying utility creatures. Once Niko enters on Turn 4, the deck uses instant-speed flicker spells and repeatable end-step blink engines like Soulherder and Restoration Angel to accumulate Shards. On Turns 5 and 6, Niko transforms these Shards into copies of strong payoffs such as Sludge Monster, Reservoir Kraken, or Terisian Mindbreaker. These transformed tokens attack for heavy evasive combat damage, strip opposing abilities with slime counters, or mill libraries in massive chunks. Supported by countermagic, cheap blink protection, and board sweepers, the deck grinds down opposing resources and closes the game across consecutive combat steps.
