Gandalf by Sizzle

Format: Commander

Commander: Gandalf the Grey

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Gandalf the Grey leads a spellslinger deck built around cheap instants and sorceries, cost reducers, and payoff permanents. The primary plan is to cantrip into a compact infinite flicker loop-Dualcaster Mage plus Essence Flux or Blur, powered by Storm-Kiln Artist-then convert infinite Treasure into an uncounterable Banefire. The secondary path uses Talrand, Murmuring Mystic, and Niv-Mizzet to turn every spell into flying token advantage or direct damage. Gandalf is a versatile engine, not the win condition: his modes buy tempo, copy key spells, and can be reset with flicker effects. There is no hidden commander; Gale, Waterdeep Prodigy is only a support wizard in the 99.
