Deck overview

This is a Simic Merfolk tribal midrange deck helmed by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. The plan is to flood the board with Merfolk, pump them with lords and +1/+1 counters via explore triggers, and close through combat. Hakbal of the Surging Soul is the primary engine: his combat-step explore mass-grows the team and his attack trigger either ramps a land into play or draws, accelerating both mana and card flow. Token makers (Deeproot Waters, Deeproot Pilgrimage, Emperor Mihail II), anthem lords, and evasion (Herald of Secret Streams, islandwalk) turn a wide board into lethal pressure. There are no infinite combo lines; the deck wins by overwhelming the table in combat, supported by one-sided bounce (Raise the Palisade, Wave Goodbye) and steady card advantage from Kindred Discovery, Bident of Thassa, and explore payoffs.
