Deck overview

Baron Helmut Zemo commands a powerful Mono-Black Reanimator and Combo-Control deck that turns dense black mana symbols into free, game-ending spells. The deck rapidly stocks the graveyard with high-pip permanents using targeted tutors like Buried Alive and Entomb alongside efficient self-mill engines. Once Baron Helmut Zemo attacks, his zero-mana Boast ability exiles fifteen black mana symbols from the graveyard to copy and cast up to three spells without paying their mana costs. Combining Bloodletter of Aclazotz with life-halving effects like Pox Plague or Fraying Omnipotence immediately deals 40 life loss to each opponent, eliminating the entire table in a single turn. Independent of the commander, the deck operates as a robust reanimator strategy, utilizing Reanimate, Animate Dead, and Living Death to deploy oppressive threats such as Archon of Cruelty, Archfiend of Despair, and Massacre Wurm well ahead of curve.
