Deck overview

This mono-black deck is helmed by Braids, Arisen Nightmare, leveraging low-cost, recurring sacrifice fodder to generate overwhelming card advantage and life drain. By consistently offering opponents the punishing choice of losing permanents or giving you extra cards, the deck pulls ahead in resources throughout the early game. It accelerates with powerful black rituals and lands like Cabal Coffers and Lake of the Dead into massive midrange threats such as Bolas's Citadel and K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth. Its primary win condition is an infinite Aristocrats loop utilizing Gravecrawler, Phyrexian Altar, and blood-artist effects, or a lethal Torment of Hailfire. While exceptionally resilient against creature-based strategies and spot removal thanks to extensive graveyard recursion, the deck struggles against opposing resolved enchantments and artifacts, lacking clean answers to cards like Rest in Peace. Overall, it offers a relentless, high-synergy attrition strategy that closes games decisively in the midgame.
